(1) David Ferbrache, OBE

Chief Technology Officer, Cyber Security, KPMG in the UK

An award winning UK national cyber security expert. David is the CTO for the UK cyber security practice. He works with KPMG’s largest clients across the financial sector to help them understand and counter high end cyber threats and future security challenges. David also leads KPMG’s cyber security service development and thought leadership activities in the UK. Over 30 years experience of all aspects of information security, information management, as well as broader government policy making, defence and international affairs.

David has operated at board and executive levels across the financial sector helping organisations understand their threat environment, cyber risk and remediation actions.

He has led KPMG’s thought leadership  to providing a range of viewpoints on the future cyber threat, on how the way major organisations respond to cyber security challenges, and on the assessment of cyber risk both organisational and systemic.

David brings broad cross-sector experience drawn from his work at Ministerial level with government, within the finance sector, and beyond in pharmaceuticals, oil and natural gas. David was a principal author of the UK’s first national cyber security strategy, has been involved in establishing most of the UK’s national cyber security structures and organisations, and led the delivery of the Defence Cyber Security Programme. David is a member of the Scottish government National Cyber Resilience Leaders Board, and was a major contributor to the Scottish government’s cyber resilience strategy.

During his time in Ministry of Defence (MOD), David held a number of senior director level roles including responsibility for a large element of MOD’s science budget, for MOD industrial policy, for MOD procurement reform and for operational analysis programmes across the MOD. He was made a Fellow of the Defence Evaluation and Research Agency and an OBE for his contribution to national security post 9/11. David was awarded “Personality of the year” in the 2018 Cyber Security Awards.

(2) Bruce Hallas

Author, speaker and founder of Marmalade Box

Bruce is the driving force behind the Re-thinking the Human Factor #RHF movement. He is an author, podcast host, speaker, consultant and trainer in the field of security awareness, behaviour and culture.

His journey into information security started with formal training in law, finance and marketing. This made him, for many years, an outsider looking in, to a tech centric industry and approach to security.

Bruce has now completed 6 years research into Re-thinking the Human Factor which has culminated in the development and launch of the SABC™ (Security Awareness, Behaviour & Culture) Framework in 2016.

The Framework has been implemented in organisations covering 24 countries and in 4 languages. His research, vision and experience has attracted the attention of many industry stakeholders including ISC2 and the SANS Institute. He’s a regular speaker and panellist on the human factor where he has been sharing his disruptive thoughts and uncomfortable truths on education and awareness now for 6 years
